Massage & Holistic Bodywork
I truly love to massage, its an honour to be trusted to dance a healing dance with a body in my hands. I work intuitively, informed by decades of experience and study.

I have been told I have good hands.
I am a passionate bodyworker with a holistic approach to treatments. My effective methods are the result of over 20 years experience as a sports injury massage therapist, successfully treating clients suffering from a variety of musculo skeletal conditions, with excellent results.
I have been massaging all my life and people often ask me to describe my style of massage - It's hard to put in to words, but, I have good hands, deep intuition and a honed palpatory sense.

My aim is always to relax and relieve. My work incorporates Holistic Swedish Massage & Sports Injury Massage techniques, lymph drainage, myofascial release, breath work, a profound respect for the nervous systems' effect on the body and a desire to make people feel absolutely wonderful.
I am a deeply intuitive massage therapist, with accurate anatomical knowledge underpinning my work. I work in a truly holistic way, knowing that often the cause of pain is far from where it is felt. To bring about lasting solutions for pain, you have to treat each person and each injury as unique. Every person has the same number of muscles, but very different patterns of tension. I approach each client as a unique postural puzzle and we work together, to uncover any compensation patterns and muscular imbalances to find solutions that bring lasting relief.

It's an honour to be trusted to work with a persons body. Over the years I have built a profound palpatory sense and the confidence to feel deeply into the body and (with communication) know how deeply or softly to work. I am strong, and happy to do deep tissue work if appropriate, but also know the value of light touch. I am happy to spend an hour working on one area if required, but often will find connections throughout the whole body that will benefit from some attention. It's not unusual for someone to come to me with a hurting knee or hip and I find myself working on their neck, jaw or foot.....

I like to work with people who are willing to do the work to help themselves. While massage is inherently passive, healing is not. It requires understanding and self effort to discover and unpick a life time of postural habits and emotional holding patterns, to find ease and bring relief. This is where my movement and Pilates training helps, and why I call myself a bodyworker not just a massage therapist. A treatment with me may involve some breathwork and perhaps some movement as well as therapeutic, compassionate touch.

I make sure I keep up to date with the latest research in bodywork and incorporate these findings in my work; utilising the most appropriate techniques to bring deep relaxation and fast relief from pain.

My aim is always to bring about a deep and profound relaxation throughout mind and body, returning the body to the parasympathetic state of rest and digest. Thus allowing the body's own healing response to be activated, and for your stress response to get out of the way of healing. Working rhythmically, in synch with your own dynamic resonance, assessing and treating the musculature to bring back alignment, blood flow, nerve conductivity etc., all the time easing, soothing, restoring and encouraging the tissues back to a state of health.

We create the environment for injury and pain with our posture, our habits and choices. How can I help you create an environment for a full and lasting recovery?

I recently took a break from full time professional massage, keeping my hands in by treating family and friends, I am now tentatively returning to offer a limited number of treatments to those that resonate with what I have to offer and how I work. If you would like to work with me, to help create the environment for healing in your body using massage and movement, then please be in touch.
