Come and explore your foot function with me, in an in interactive morning of all things feet.
Fun , factual and instantly actionable information for you, so you can build resilient feet to carry you forward into your future.
Why does foot strength matter?
-
Benefits of foot strength include improved balance and coordination, enhanced athletic performance, and a positive impact on your entire body's alignment.
-
Strong toes help with balance, toe strength is one of the greatest predictors of fall risk, especially in the elderly. Strong mobile feet reduce the risk of injury.
-
Strong foot muscles reduce risk of bunions and plantar fasciitis.
-
A well-conditioned foot will have good biomechanics – the natural arch of your feet will be responsive and resilient, this has knock on positive effects on whole body alignment.
-
A strong, mobile, coordinated foot will reduce wear and tear on your knees and will reduce the likelihood of hip pain.
-
Poor foot mechanics can lead to low back pain and can also be a factor in pelvic floor dysfunction.
-
Strong feet have strong muscles; there are four layers of muscle on the sole of your foot, when these muscles are strong, they protect your foot bones from the forces of impact from the ground, so your feet don’t get so sore.

Is this a talk or a movement workshop?

Great question, it is a combination of both.
This is a morning of education and embodiment.
We will look at pictures and models of the shoulder bones, muscles, fascia etc familiarising you with how the shoulder goes together and then I will guide you to experience the anatomy from within, through conscious connection, touch, movement, strengthening exercises and stretches. You will learn and experience so many exercises to help you release, relax, strengthen and mobilise your shoulders

Experience your alignment and become aware of postural patterns and their effect on the shoulder girdle and beyond. Explore positive practices to support shoulder mobility and stability while learning relaxation and postural control. Understanding your shoulder is the key to successful rehabilitation.

Body Walking

Body Walking is a chance to explore your gait and posture while walking with me in nature. A holistic exploration of your internal interconnectedness.

Body Walking is a chance to deeply connect with your self and realise fully that you are an interconnected web of muscles, bones and fascia all working in harmony to produce alignment, stability and mobility.

Spend time noticing your postural holding patterns and joint restrictions, be guided to experience your mobility, stability, weaknesses and strengths. Discover the areas you hold tense and those that maybe your body has forgotten how to access
We will look at how posture and tension may be causing pain or unnecessary wear and tear, by exploring muscle balance syndromes like upper cross and lower cross as well as how fascial tension and emotional holding patterns may be showing up in your posture.

Introducing biotensegrity and using your interoception, allow me to guide you in experiencing your body in a deep sense.
I treat and teach what I meet, but the sorts of things we may explore together include foot strength, ankle mobility, stride length, knee alignment, hip stability, pelvic mobility, core control, spinal holding patterns, and breath mechanics.
All of this while walking in beautiful places, deeply relaxing, breathing fully and being present in nature.

Become aware of your posture, alignment and tension patterns from within. learning how simple changes in alignment and tension, bring profound ease throughout your body. Learn how to maintain this positive change.

Through observation, relaxation and connection, learn to move in a more fluid, supple way, reduce wear and tear, improve mobility and reduce discomfort.

Walk with me
& meet your feet
Join Harriet Tubbs (bodyworker and movement teacher) on a walk with a difference, a walk where your body is the star.
A holistic exploration, looking at gait, postural habits and tension patterns, shedding light on how to reduce pain, build strength and increase mobility, by bringing attention to your feet and their connections throughout your body.
“I am offering one to one and small group sessions, where we walk in nature and learn about feet. I will introduce you to mindful practices designed to give you a profound felt sense of your feet and help you understand the role they may be playing in producing pain and how to make changes to bring lasting relief.
I teach what I meet, so the sessions will be tailored to who is with me. The level of walking and the choice of venue will be tailored to suit each participant “
Each individual 1:1 session will be an hour and a half.
The group sessions will be 2 hours. Group sessions will have a maximum of 3 participants plus me.
If this sounds daunting, we will not necessarily be walking for the entire time, your appointment will include arrival, an introduction of basic anatomy, a brief warm up, the walk itself and plenty of time for deeper enquiry and questions.
